HC Deb 16 December 1970 vol 808 c356W
103. Mr. Crouch

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether, in view of the statement contained in his Department's Press Notice 645 of 24th November that the A2 is a major route between London, Canterbury and the port of Dover and carries a substantial volume of traffic including heavy freight vehicles, he will give consideration to extending the M2 motorway to Dover and cease the alteration by stages of the existing A2.

Mr. Michael Heseltine

No. On present forecasts the extension of the M2 could not be justified.
