§ 25. Mr. Selwyn Gummerasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will consider introducing legislation to amend the planning regulations so that planning permission shall be necessary in respect of all demolition rather than in respect of construction.
§ Mr. Peter WalkerI am sure that legislation is needed to enable local authorities to control the demolition of buildings, the demolition of which would damage the character of a Conservation Area. I hope there will be an early opportunity to achieve this.
