HC Deb 16 December 1970 vol 808 cc384-5W
Mr. David James

asked the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications if he will give the membership and functions of the British Broadcasting Corporation and Independent Television Authority advisory councils; whether he is satisfied that they are functioning adequately; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Chataway

The names of members of the advisory councils and the titles of the councils, which describe their broad functions, are published in the annual reports of the B.B.C. and the I.T.A. respectively—copies are to be found in the House of Commons Library. It is the responsibility of the broadcasting authorities, who appoint the advisory councils, to ensure that they are functioning adequately.
