HC Deb 16 December 1970 vol 808 cc381-2W
Mr. Wilkinson

asked the Minister of Aviation Supply whether he will break down his estimate of launching aid required for the BAC311 with its projected RB211/61 power-plant into its constituent airframe and engine costs; and whether he will give the estimated cost to his Department of launching the BAC311 powered by the General Electric CF6 engine.

Mr. Corfield

The launching aid requested for the BAC311 was £144 million at 1970 prices, of which £84 million was for the airframe and £60 for the RB211/61 engine.

Launching aid would not have been required for an engine manufactured in the U.S.A.
