asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will take steps to bring solicitors' car travelling allowances, in connection with criminal legal aid cases at magistrates' and higher courts, in line with the travelling allowances which are enjoyed by Members of Parliament.

Under the Legal Aid in Criminal Proceedings (Fees and Expenses) Regulations, 1968, the payment of solicitors' travelling expenses is a matter for agreement between the claimant and the taxing authority.
