Mr. Loveridge

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) what steps he will take to ensure that casualty wards in hospitals are kept open on a 24-hour basis, including the Harold Wood Hospital in the Hornchurch constituency;

(2) what steps he is now taking to ensure that enough junior doctors are available to main casualty wards in hospitals on a 24-hour, seven-day service to the public.
