Members and welfare organisations have suggested that indoor powered wheelchairs should be permitted to be used outdoors when they are of a type claimed by the makers to be suitable. My right hon. Friend has been unable to agree to this proposal, because of the risks to the safety of the occupants.
§ 86. Mr. Willeyasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what action has been taken in the local authority areas in the Northern Region with regard to Section 2 of the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act, 1970, about amenities to the disabled; and if he will make a statement.
