59. Mr. J. H. Osborn

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is satisfied that the preliminary measures necessary for the adoption of the decimal currency system planned for 1970 will be adequately carried out by the end of the year to ensure a smooth transition in 1971; and if he will make a statement.

Each organisation is responsible for its own preparations for D-Day on 15th February, 1971. The Decimal Currency Board is responsible for facilitating the change-over and then-surveys suggest that preparations are well in hand.
