Mr. Barry Jones

asked the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications (1) what are his plans for change-over to 625-line television transmission in Wales;

(2) what are his plans for 625 line television transmitters and lower power stations for Flintshire.

Mr. Chataway

The B.B.C. and the I.T.A. envisage the following main stations:—

  1. Wenvoe supported by 11 low-power relay stations.
  2. Llandona supported by 3 low-power relay stations.
  3. Carmel.
  4. Presely.
  5. Blaen Plwyf.
  6. Moel-y-Parc.

Additional low-power stations whose locations have not yet been decided will be necessary. No date has been fixed for stopping the V.H.F. transmissions.
