63. Mr. William Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry how many industrial development certificates were issued for Scotland in the period 1st July to 30th September, 1970; what was the total floor space involved; and what were the comparable figures for each of the last five years.

Mr. Anthony Grant

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given to his Question on 9th November.—[Vol. 806, c. 15.]

73. Mr. George Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what estimate he has made of the effect on the Welsh economy caused by the policy of greater flexibility in the granting of industrial development certificates; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Anthony Grant

We have had regard to the economy as a whole. The industrial development certificate system remains an essential element in our regional policy and will be administered in the best interests of the economy. Wales should benefit as our policy takes effect.

81. Mr. David Steel

Mr. Anthony Grant

406 in the period 1st January, 1966, to 30th August, 1970.
