Mr. W. H. K. Bakerasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry how many deaths by drowning or as a result of injuries received at sea, occurred to fishermen normally resident within the county of Banff in each of the past five years to the nearest convenient date.
§ Mr. Noble, pursuant to the reply, [OFFICIAL REPORT, 24th November, 1970; Vol. 807, c. 93], gave the following information:

(a) The figures shown in the "Died of Injuries" columns are those of deaths which occurred on board and were subsequently reported to the Registrar-General of Shipping and Seamen. Figures for deaths on shore from injuries sustained on board are not available.
(b)"Drowning" includes:—
- (i) Vessels lost and crew missing.
- (ii) Missing at sea, presumed killed or drowned.
- (iii) Jumped overboard (suicide).
- (iv) Washed overboard and drowned.
- (v) Fell overboard and drowned.
