HC Deb 04 December 1970 vol 807 cc484-5W
Mr. Walder

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what arrangements he proposes for the Air Transport Licensing Board when the appointments of the present Chairman and members expire at the end of the year.

Mr. John Davies

I am appointing Mr. J. H. Lawrie, the present Deputy Chairman, to become Chairman of the Air Transport Licensing Board on 1st January, 1971. Sir Algernon Rumbold, Mr. N. A. Morling and Mr. N. C. Pearson have accepted my invitation to join the Board as part-time members from the same date and I am re-appointing Sir Roy Allen and Mr. C. J. Highton from among the present members of the Board. These appointments have been made for a period of two years to enable the Board to carry out its functions until the Civil Aviation Authority has been established.

I have expressed to the retiring Chairman and members my thanks for the considerable service that has been rendered to civil aviation by the present Board.
