§ Sir H. Legge-Bourkeasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether Her Majesty's Government has yet taken any decision on participation in the project for the 300 GeV accelerator at C.E.R.N.
§ Mrs. ThatcherYes. We have decided that the United Kingdom should participate with the other European countries which are members of the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (C.E.R.N.) in building a 300 GeV accelerator near the existing C.E.R.N. site at Geneva. A careful appraisal of priorities within the civil science budget has made it possible for the cost to be found without additional public expenditure.
