Mr. William Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the latest figure of increase or decrease in the number of civil servants at St. Andrews House since 18th June.

Between 1st June and 1st November the number of non-industrial staff in my Departments increased by 113, including 60 in St. Andrew's House.

The number in post at 1st November was below the figure that the previous Government estimated would be required in the current year.
