HC Deb 02 December 1970 vol 807 cc381-2W
66. Mr. Wolrige-Gordon

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what steps he has taken to ensure that preliminary procedures have been carried out, as set down in the Plant Health (Scotland) Act, 1967 and the Destructive Pests and Diseases of Plants (Scotland) Order, 1966, before ordering the destruction of a crop of potatoes.

Mr. Buchanan-Smith

I am satisfied that the procedures which are followed, before potatoes are destroyed under statutory powers, provide adequate safeguards.
