HC Deb 28 April 1970 vol 800 c291W
Mr. Eadie

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the projected size of staffs to be employed by the Inland Revenue department in Scotland during the next five years; and what is their location.

Mr. Taverne

The estimated numbers are:

1971 5,000
1972 5,100
1973 5,300
1974 5,500
1975 5,700

In 1971 about 1,400 are expected to be located in Edinburgh, about 1,750 at Centre 1, East Kilbride, and the rest in local offices. Most of the additional staff from 1972 onwards will be located in Edinburgh to deal with P.A.Y.E. work to be transferred from London.
