HC Deb 27 April 1970 vol 800 cc232-3W
Sir Ian Orr-Ewing

asked the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications whether he will publish a list of broadcasting stations in Europe which are using wavelengths or powers not allocated them by the International Telecommunications Convention.

Mr. Pentland:

The International Telecommunication Convention does not allocate wavelengths or powers but it operates to protect from interference wavelengths properly allocated to member countries. Full particulars of LF and MF stations are given in a list published by the European Broadcasting Union, of which I am placing a copy in the Library. The unidentified stations causing interference, which are mentioned at the end of the list—with the pirate activity in the North Sea—have been evading the international controls.
