HC Deb 24 April 1970 vol 800 c168W
Mr. Gardner

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what is the percentage of children in Nottinghamshire schools who go on to university and other higher education; and what is the national average.

Mr. Fowler:

The best approximation to the requested information is obtained from the available statistics of award holders and of entrants to colleges of education. Full value awards may, however, be given for courses outside the usual interpretation of higher education, and these are not separately distinguished. The following are the figures, inclusive of such students:

Miss Bacon:

In January, 1970, eight or 2. per cent. In January, 1969, 26 or 9.2 per cent.
