HC Deb 22 April 1970 vol 800 c113W
Mr. Monro

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food why a number of the prices for wool in respect of the 1970 clip have been reduced.

Mr. Stodart

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what will be the effect on the income of a sheep Farmer with 600 Blackface ewes of the price schedule which has been issued for the 1970 wool clip.

Mr. Hoy:

This schedule is the responsibility of the British Wool Marketing Board. The effect of price changes on individual farmers' returns depends on the quality of the wool they sell, the composition of their flocks and the fleece weights in any particular season. All these factors can vary considerably and make any specific estimate impracticable. However, I understand that the reductions on Blackface wool will average 5 per cent. to 6 per cent.
