HC Deb 22 April 1970 vol 800 c97W
46. Mr. Rankin

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what steps he is taking to protect the western sea shores of Scotland from the pollution spread by dead seagulls which have in turn died from the effects of pollution.

Dr. Dickson Mahon:

I would expect the local authorities to deal with any nuisance caused in this way, and I am not aware of any serious problem at present. No instances of oil pollution affecting the western coastline have been reported to me.
