*Includes 1 murderer of a policeman.
[Figures have been given for completed years served.]

The three cases which involved the killing of a policeman have been indicated. The case released in 1968 after 8½ years was one which under the present law would be regarded as manslaughter rather than murder. Information on cases where the victim was a child or a woman over the age of 60 is the Portuguese Consular representative from Salisbury, Rhodesia; and with what results.

Mr. Foley:

The Portuguese Government have been informed that we propose to implement paragraph 10 of United Nations Security Council Resolution No. 277 requesting us to withdraw any existing agreements on the basis of which foreign consular, trade and other representation may at present be maintained in or with Southern Rhodesia ".

It is for the Portuguese Government to decide whether in the light of this resolution they will withdraw their representation from Southern Rhodesia.
