HC Deb 22 April 1970 vol 800 c112W
Mr. Pardoe

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what steps he is taking to ensure that there are adequate supplies of potatoes at the present time.

Mr. Hoy:

Supplies of potatoes last week were reported to be slightly in excess of demand at current prices. To safeguard supplies we have restricted exports and lifted the ban on the import of main crop potatoes: since 15th December last some 12,000 tons have been imported, including 8,000 in the fortnight ended 18th April.
