asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will abolish import duty on equipment used by and made only for physically or mentally disabled people for which there is no United Kingdom manufactured equivalent; and if he will make a statement.

There is no general power to abolish duty in the circumstances described by my hon. Friend, but if he would write to me giving details of the items which he has in mind, I would be pleased to consider the matter further.
