§ Mr. Leslie Huckfieldasked the Minister of Technology whether he will investigate, with a view to taking steps to alleviate, the delays in tyre and wheel production which are holding up the production and exports of heavy haulage trailers in this country with balance of payments effects.
§ Dr. Ernest A. DaviesI have no evidence that tyre manufacturers in this country are unable to meet demands for commercial vehicle tyres. Wheel manufacturers have experienced some difficulty in learning customer requirements but I am assured that production programmes have now been adjusted to eliminate any shortfall in supply.
