HC Deb 17 April 1970 vol 799 cc304-5W
Mr. Pavitt

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what steps he has taken to make redress available to a National Health Service patient who incurs iatrogenic deafness as a result of a prescription of streptomycin, dehydrostreptomycin, kanamycin, neomycin or gentamycin given by a doctor who has failed to check for the possibility of renal insufficiency.

Mr. Crossman

A patient who considers that he may have suffered injury through the negligent prescription of these drugs can already seek redress through the normal legal channels. I do not consider that any action on my part is necessary.
