Mr. Oakes

asked the Minister of Technology (1) if he will make a statement on the future supply of smokeless fuel in the North-West Region;

(2) if he will refer the estimated shortage of supplies of smokeless fuel in the North-West Region to the Winter Emergency Committee.

As my right hon. Friend the Paymaster General said in the House on 9th April, the situation will be tight in 1970–71, and I know that there is concern in the North-West. We are examining what steps are possible to ease the position, in consultation as necessary with other Departments.—[Vol. 799, c. 760–879]
