HC Deb 13 April 1970 vol 799 c161W
Mr. Derek Page

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many domiciliary visits were made during 1969 by headquarters administrative staff and regional office staff, respectively.

Mr. Ennals

Domiciliary visits are not ordinarily made by staff from Headquarters, and totalled only about 60 in 1969. During that year 6¼ million visits were made by local staff in connection with claims to supplementary benefit; 370,000 visits were made to claimants of sickness or industrial injury benefit; and 75,000 by War Pensions welfare staff. Other domiciliary visits were made in connection with enquiries about the payment of national insurance contributions, but the number of these is not separately recorded.
