HC Deb 08 April 1970 vol 799 cc80-1W
Mr. Marten

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the estimated cost to the Treasury of allowing everyone who earns money and pays tax and surtax to keep the last 7s. 6d. of every £ earned.

Mr. William Rodgers

If in cases of mixed incomes the earned income was treated as the bottom slice of total income the cost would be about £18 million for a full year.
