HC Deb 06 April 1970 vol 799 c24W
Mr. Raphael Tuck

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity if she will make a statement about the situation at Odhams, of Watford, where 3,000 workers have just received notice of dismissal following an industrial dispute; and what action she is taking to alleviate the situation.

Mr. Harold Walker

On 25th March the company issued dismissal notices to some 3,000 employees on the ground that working restrictions being imposed by certain employees in pursuit of a wage claim were progressively making the proper running of the factory impossible. The restrictions were lifted on 31st March and on 3rd April the company rescinded the notices. My officers are continuing their attempts to help resolve the problems.
