§ Mr. O'MalleyIn the twelve months up to the end of September, 1969, £363,271 was paid for the dependants of men while on official or unofficial strike. The corresponding figure for the five calendar years 1964–68 is £950,359. It is not possible to distinguish between official and unofficial strikes. There are no separate figures for unemployment benefit and supplementary benefit paid to people laid off because of strikes but not disqualified.
