(2) whether he will publish the amount of overseas investment that was financed by Euro-dollar borrowing in the first half of 1969.
§ Mr. TaverneThe balance of payments statistics regularly include figures of external borrowing and lending of United Kingdom banks in U.S. dollars and other non-sterling currencies, and estimates of overseas investment financed through Euro-dollar borrowing by investors from United Kingdom banks (e.g. Economic Trends, September 1969, page XVI and Appendix Tables 9 and 10).
§ Mr. Maurice Macmillanasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will give an estimate of the amount of overseas investment in 1969 that will be financed by Euro-dollar borrowing.
§ Mr. TaverneThe amount in the first half of the year is provisionally estimated at £50 million and will probably be rather lower in the second half.
