HC Deb 11 November 1969 vol 791 c58W
Mr. Adam Hunter

asked the Minister of Transport if he will introduce legislation to compel passenger transport undertakings in Scotland to extend concessionary fares for all purposes to children between 14 years of age and the school leaving age.

Mr. Bob Brown

No. These fares are a matter for the bus undertaking concerned subject to the provisions of the Travel Concessions Acts where these apply and to the approval of the Traffic Commissioners in other cases. Most undertakings give reduced fares for older students on journeys to and from school or college.

Mr. Adam Hunter

asked the Minister of Transport how many local authorities in Scotland are subsidising non-municipal passenger transport undertakings to allow them to grant concessionary fares to the elderly, the blind and the disabled.
