§ Mr. Eadieasked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity what steps are being taken to offer re-training as a consequence of the closure of Easthouses Colliery.
§ Mr. DellMost of the re-training required is likely to be at operator level and can best be given by employers with the help of industrial training boards and of the Government grants which are available to assist such training in development areas. Redundant mineworkers from this colliery who want and are suitable for the accelerated training for skill provided at Government training centres will be able to obtain it at Edinburgh, or at any of the other 41 centres where the trade of their choice is taught.
