asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what are the numbers of general medical practitioners and the average number of patients on the lists for the latest available date.

Mr. Crossman

At 1st October, 1968, the latest date for which information about list sizes is available, there were 19,970 doctors providing full general medical services in England and Wales, with an average list of 2,477 patients. During the succeeding nine months, the number of doctors increased by 151 to 20,121.
