§ 37. Miss Lestorasked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity what further consideration has been given to introducing legislation to compel employers to establish safety committees in industry.
§ Mr. FernyhoughA sub-committee of my right hon. Friend's Industrial Safety Advisory Council, which has been considering the question of joint consultation on safety, met on 15th May. The sub-committee considered the results of the second survey of the arrangements for joint consultation on safety in factories employing more than 50 people carried out by the Factory Inspectorate earlier this year. It also had before it a report from a delegation of the subcommittee which visited Sweden in April to look at the statutory arrangements for110W joint consultation on safety in that country. We are now considering further action in the light of the sub-committee's advice.
