HC Deb 02 May 1969 vol 782 c297W
Mr. Eddie Griffiths

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will seek powers to ensure the safety of those taking part in charity walks.

Mr. Bob Brown

I have been asked to reply.

I learnt with regret of the recent accident involving young people on a charity walk in Sheffield, but I do not consider that legislation to control these walks would be justified. I am, however, writing further to my hon. Friend on this.
