§ 35. Mr. Gregor Mackenzieasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will make a statement on the meeting between the Minister of State and local planning authority representatives to consider regional planning.
§ Mr. MillanMy hon. Friend the Minister of State met the Clyde Valley Planning Advisory Committee on 14th March 1969. My hon. Friend proposed to the Committee that its terms of reference should be revised to include the following objectives:—
- (a) To carry out or commission whatever work is needed to produce
304 and keep up to date an advisory regional physical plan for West Central Scotland which can be approved generally by the Secretary of State and adopted by local authorities as a basis for structure plans. - (b) To serve as a point of liaison with major interests concerned with planning in West Central Scotland, including particularly industrial and other interests concerned with economic development and any passenger transport authority that may be set up in the area.
- (c) In appropriate cases to act as a forum for discussion of major development plan proposals by individual authorities or groups of authorities.
These proposals appeared to command general acceptance, and the Committee agreed to prepare for consideration precise terms of reference covering the new objectives and to consider the structure of sub-committees which will be needed for particular aspects of the work.
