Mr. Edward M. Taylorasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the discussions which he has had with the Scottish Trades Union Congress on the proposed deep-water berth and ore terminal on Clydeside.
§ Mr. RossOn 19th March, together with a number of my Ministerial colleagues with responsibilities in the economic and industrial fields, I discussed with members of the Scottish Trades Union Congress Economic Committee a number of matters affecting the economic situation in Scotland, including possible developments on the Clyde. We assured the representatives that the Government welcomed the constructive contribution made by the Congress to the consideration of matters affecting the development of the Clyde and of the Scottish economy generally.
