HC Deb 24 June 1969 vol 785 cc255-6W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department on what date the owner of the satin-bronze Jaguar 326 EYV of 50 Frobisher Road, London, N.8, was first reported by the police for failing to have a road fund licence; when he was first prosecuted and with what results; on how many occasions he was subsequently reported, and prosecuted; and whether the police constable who was requested to make a report on Monday, 16th June, did so and with what result.

Mr. Elystan Morgan

I understand that my hon. Friend has been informed by the prosecuting authority that the first alleged offence was reported as having occurred on 21st October, 1968, and resulted in a prosecution on 11th April, 1969, when the defendant was fined £10 and ordered to pay one guinea costs together with excise duty for the period March to October, 1968, inclusive.

Since then, four further police reports have been submitted to the licensing authority, resulting in two successful prosecutions to date. The fourth report was made at Hornsey police station on 17th June, 1969, and was received by the Greater London Council on 19th June.
