Mr. Edward M. Taylorasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what discussions he has now had with the Chief Minister of Gibraltar regarding the measures required to strengthen the economy of Gibraltar, in view of the recent steps taken by the Spanish Government.
§ Mr. WhitlockThe Governor has been keeping the economic situation under close review with the Chief Minister and his other advisers, and will I am sure, put forward any proposals which he thinks would be helpful in the present situation. As my right hon. Friend said in reply to the right hon. Member for Kinross and West Perthshire (Sir Alec Douglas-Home) on 9th June, it remains the declared policy of Her Majesty's Government to support Gibraltar and we will continue to sustain its people.
