§ 66. Mr. Crouchasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will now make a statement about his Department's inquiry into the effects of selective employment tax on the construction industry.
§ Mr. DiamondThe construction industry is within the scope of Professor Reddaway's inquiry into the economic effects of the tax, but he has not yet been able to start work on this part of the inquiry. The scope of the inquiry is very wide and it would not be possible for him to deal at the same time with all the industries which bear the tax. Every effort is, however, being made to recruit staff with the necessary qualifications and experience to enable him to deal with construction in parallel with work on other industries.
