HC Deb 25 July 1969 vol 787 cc576-7W
Mr. Horner

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) what is the average number of patients on the lists of doctors in the areas covered by the Warley Executive Council;

(2) what is the number of general practitioners in the areas of Oldbury and Rowley Regis covered by the Warley Executive Council; and how many of these are unable to take further patients on their lists.

Mr. Crossman

The information requested is as follows:

Area Number of doctors providing full general medical services at 1st July 1969 Average Number of patients on these doctors' lists*
Warley, West (consists mainly of Rowley Regis) 21 2,670
Warley, Central (consists mainly of Oldbury) 16 2,619
Warley, East 35 2,428
At 1st July 1969 three doctors in Warley, Central, and four in Warley, West, had lists of patients exceeding the maximum normally permitted by regulations. The Warley Executive Council will be glad to help anyone who may have difficulty in getting accepted by a doctor.
* The true number of patients per doctor will be slightly smaller since it is not possible to eliminate all duplicate entries from doctors' lists.
