asked the Prime Minister what discussions he had with church and civic leaders about road communications in the East and West Ridings in his recent official visit to Yorkshire.

As the hon. Member knows, the purpose of my visit to Selby on 29th June was to take part in the United Service at Selby Abbey, held in connection with the Abbey's 900th Anniversary celebrations. The hon. Member will realise that it was not appropriate on such an occasion to have discussions about road communications in the East and West Ridings.
