§ Mr. Edward ShortOn the basis of the figures in Tables 1 and 2 of Cmnd. 3936, the estimated out-turn—at out-turn prices—in 1968–69 was £2,237 million and the estimate—at 1969–70 Estimates prices—for 1969–70 is £2,324 million. This last figure does not take account of the increase in teachers salaries in primary and secondary schools in England and Wales from 1st April, 1969, estimated to cost about £35 million this year.
