§ 57. Mr. Alasdair Mackenzieasked the Secretary of State for Scotland, in view of the opposition among crofters over large parts of the Highlands to the proposal to compel crofters to buy their land irrespective of its quality, if he will now give an undertaking that in any legislation on the subjoct of crofting he will exclude the compulsory purchase of crofts.
