asked the Secretary of State for Social Services, what was the gross cost of providing general dental practitioner and denture services and the amount recovered by charges for each of the last three years.

Mr. Crossman

The gross cost of the general dental services in England and Wales in the financial years ended 31st March, 1967, 1968 and 1969 was £70.2 million, £72.6 million and about £75.4 million, respectively.

Income from charges to patients in these years was £11.7 million, £12.3 million and about £14.1 million respectively.
