Mr. Bob BrownWe share the view of the Gloucester County Council, which sought our consent to the change, that the previous 30 m.p.h. limits were not a realistic or effective restriction. As they were already very widely ignored and the characteristics of the roads naturally limit speeds above 40 m.p.h., we would not expect any significant increase in speeds as a result of changing the limits and there should not be any reduction in the safety of the road.
