§ Mr. Monroasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is his estimate of the cost to public funds of each job created in Scotland in 1963–64 and 1967–68.
§ Mr. RossThe only cost per job estimate which it is practicable to make is in respect of assistance under the Local Employment Acts which alone is tied specifically to the creation of new jobs. Assistance offered in Scotland by the Board of Trade under the Local Employment Acts in 1964–65 involved an average commitment of £709 for each job expected to be created, compared to £695 in 1967–68.
