HC Deb 26 February 1969 vol 778 c305W
70. Sir J. Rodgers

asked the Minister of Technology what steps he is taking to mitigate the noise resulting from supersonic aircraft such as the Concorde and similar types of aircraft; and whether he will consider, in conjunction with this, the provision of better insulation for houses that are likely to be in the path of such aircraft.

Mr. Benn

It is one of Concorde's design aims that its engine noise should be no greater than that of current jet aircraft. Concorde will operate initially from Heathrow where a sound insulation scheme is already in operation. The control of supersonic flying over land is for my right hon. Friend the President of the Board of Trade.
