HC Deb 20 February 1969 vol 778 c138W
46. Mr. Boston

asked the Secretary of State for Economic Affairs if he will make a statement about the review of the South-East Economic Planning Council's report, A Strategy for the South-East.

47. Mr. John Fraser

asked the Secretary of State for Economic Affairs if he will now make a statement on the first report of the South-East Economic Planning Council report, A Strategy for the South-East.

Mr. Shore

The Government's reply to the Council's report has now been published and copies are available in the Library. The reply deals with the Council's recommendations on planned expansion schemes, distribution of industry policy, control of office development, roads expenditure and environmental improvement. It reserves comment on the imaginative basic planning concept put forward by the Council because, as the hon. Members will know, the proposals are being tested and followed up by the South-East Joint Planning Team. Their report is expected next year.
